LEA - Local Education Authority controls all of the Education matters in England (with the students in Northern Ireland using the local Education and libraries board, and Scottish students using the local Students Awards Agency).

Lecturer - Lecturers are the most valuable resource of any University. The lecturer is a member of staff whose job is to teach students during a period of time termed a lecture. Note that lecturers are distinct from tutors in that they do not provide one on one support during lectures due to the fact that there could potentially be hundreds of students attending one lecture.

LLB -

Learning Resource Centre - Every University has a learning resource centre (LRC). The LRC caters for the research needs of all students. Typically a LRC will provide books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, computers and such like. It is well advised that students become familiar with their LRC so that they can make use of the resources it has on offer.

Loan - An amount of money you borrow, and have to repay, normally with an extra amount, which is called the .

Local Education and Libraries Board - This is the board that oversees education within Northern Ireland. They are a contact point if you have any queries regarding many of the points discussed in the Student Life section – but only for the Northern Ireland area.
