UCAS - Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) manages the relationship between students and establishments providing further education. UCAS processes all applications for , undergraduate courses and university diplomas within the UK.

Undergraduate - A student who is still undertaking a course of study. ie. Not graduated yet.

Unit - This is an individual component of your course. Your course may be composed of many units. You will be expected to pass a minimum number of Units per year to continue your study. The results that you achieve in each unit determine the overall grade that you will achieve for your course.

Unit Leader - The unit leader is essentially the teacher/lecturer responsible for co-ordinating a particular unit of your course. They will have had input into the learning experience you will have and also what is expected of you for the required assignments and exams (if any). If you encounter problems with assignments or exams in a particular unit, the unit leader is the person to contact.

University - An educational establishment offering courses of further study.

University Resource Centre - An amalgamation of a library, and computing services providing books, magazines, research material, Internet access, computers and printing and photocopying facilities in one area.
