Web Address - This is more commonly known as a URL (Uniform Resource Locator). A web address is a human readable location that you can use to request pages on the World Wide Web (WWW) via your browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape etc). The request is dealt with by a server which will process your request and will send the requested page to your browser in response.

Website - A set of interconnected webpages, usually including a homepage, created and maintained by a person, group or company. Normally a website will exist as a collection of related information.

Welfare Advisor - Individual offering advice on general well-being. They will be usually found within the Welfare Office on a University campus.

Welfare Office - Office providing general advice to students.

Work Experience - This is a period of time that you will spend working for a particular company in your chosen career path in a junior role. This will enable you to gain experience in your chosen career. It is invaluable in terms of providing an opportunity to see for yourself what is involved in the work you may be undertaking after finishing your course, and prepares you significantly for your final year of study at University. It will also allow you to put what you have learnt at University into practice. In order to obtain a work placement you will need to contact your placement officer (every University has one), in addition to this you will be required to be studying on a sandwich course.

Work Place - A place of employment. This may consist of an office, building or even your car, if you are a travelling sales-person.

Work Permit - A document allowing you to work. A permit may be required if you decide to work in certain countries abroad.
